The Ryan Reynolds-Scarlett Johannson divorce just became official. Or at least the paperwork was just filed that WILL make it official before long.

Just a few weeks after their separation was announced, Reynolds has begun the process of officially ending his two-year marriage to Johansson.

Already separated from Johansson, Reynolds filed for divorce Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Scarlett filed her response simultaneously.

Both sides cite December 14 as their date of separation, and neither seeks spousal support in what by all accounts is a mutual, amicable split.

Sources believe that the couple simply grew apart under the strain of managing two thriving careers, and are breaking up on pleasant terms.

They were married in a private ceremony in Canada in 2008. It's too bad it didn't work out, but at least there was no real scandal involved.

Ryan Reynolds isn’t taking his divorce lightly. He’s heartbroken and in need of comfort and friendship. Us Weekly is reporting that the actor has been leaving on a former flame to try to get over splitting from Scarlett Johansson.

“Ryan has been reaching out to an ex the past few months,” a Reynolds pal tells Us. Yet it’s purely platonic, the insider insists: “He is seeking comfort, but not in a romantic or sexual way.”

We mentioned a few weeks ago that Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson were divorcing, but we just couldn’t believe the rumor! They seemed like they were going to beat the odds – neither enjoyed being in the limelight. However, we all know how trying an actor’s work schedule can be.

“She’s been unhappy for a while,” the source says, noting that the busy actors were force to spend too much time apart.

Their official statement seemed to be filled with love and kindness. My guess is these two will remain good friends in the end. Either way, this is going to a rough few months for both of them.
